The Islamic Association of Raleigh is pleased to announce the initiation of the development of Triangle Muslim Center "TMC". AlhamdolillAllah IAR owns a 25-acre parcel of land at Page Road, in Morrisville. It is a prime location (4 miles from airport & 13 miles from IAR) and can fulfill our needs for future educational institutions and have recreational, business and social facilities. An Ad Hoc committee is working to establish a Musallah on this land before the end of this year Insha’Allah. We will conduct community-wide survey soon. After community feedback we will set priorities and develop a phased master plan. Please make dua' and donate generously for this project. More information will be provided as it becomes available.

Friday Night Program - Imam Kamil Mufti

The Education Committee is pleased to announce that in two weeks on Friday May 1st we will have Imam Kamil Mufti as a guest speaker for the 2nd shift Khutbah and Friday Night Program (after Maghrib).

The Friday Night program will be entitled:
"Balanced Parenting: Ideals and Realities"

It promises to be informative and timely for all parents, children, and community members. Please come out and support this program with your attendance.

Sheikh Okasha Educational Weekend

The Education Committee is pleased to announce that Sheikh Okasha Kameny will be coming this weekend (April 24 - 26 ) for his monthly educational weekend. Please note some modifications to his usual schedule as he will be participating in An-Noor Quran Academy's annual fundraiser on Saturday April 25th at 5:30 PM.

MYC Whitewater Rafting Trip

The MYC will be holding its annual Whitewater Rafting Trip this year on Saturday, May 9th. The cost is $68.00 with transportation and $55.00 without.

Availability of Multipurpose Hall (Gym) For Personal Iftars

The Social & Welfare Committee will be utilizing the Multipurpose Hall (MPH) for the entire month of Ramadan to offer Daily Iftar to the needy, travelers, singles and others in the Community. However, all Sundays in Ramadan are kept open where the MPH will not be used for IAR Daily Iftar and instead will be made available on a first-come-first-serve basis to community members wishing to conduct their personal Iftar at IAR.

General Body Meeting

The IAR General Body Meeting will be held on Friday May 15, 2015 between Maghrib and Isha in the first floor Mussalah. All community members are requested to attend the meeting.

Hajj 2015

The IAR Raleigh Hajj group has chosen Adam Travel for handling our Hajj travel arrangements. Tentative dates for hajj travel are September 13, 2015 until September 27, 2015.

An-Noor Quran Academy 6th Annual Hifdth Graduation Ceremony & Fundraiser Event

Date: Saturday, April 25th at 5:00 PM
Location: IAR Multi-Purpose Hall
Tickets: $20/person or $50/family (available from An Noor office & IAR Friday tables)

You are invited to attend ANQA's 6th annual hifdth graduation and fundraiser event. Come share in the blessings and barakah of an evening celebrating the Holy Qur'an.

Funeral Coordinator Position

The cemetery committee is looking for a full-time Funeral Coordinator.

Job duties:
  • Handle all incoming phone calls, and guide families throughout the process.
  • Receive the body and secure it until time of preparation.
  • Keep and file all paperwork.
  • Prepare and purchase all necessary supplies and materials needed, such as Kafen.
  • Keep up with wood inventory for the graves.
  • Check on the graveyard few times a week.
  • Arrange for all maintenance.
  • Order grave markers and securely place them on the graves.
  • Plan for restroom construction at the graveyard.
  • Plan for lot cleaning and expansion for new phases.
  • Additional responsibilities that come along with this job.
Qualifications required:
  • Good command of English
  • Willingness to complete funeral director's courses

January Imam Selection Committee Update

As we continue our search for a full time Imam the committee in conjunction with the IAR Shura has decided to put in place an Acting Imam to fulfill the ongoing needs of the community. Please see the special announcement for details. We have identified a potential candidate who has been selected by the team and we are moving him along the process. However, we will continue to receive and process resumes until the role is filled. To date we have received 49 applications, of these 35 did not meet our criteria. Of the remaining group of 14 we conducted 10 Skype interviews.

Base Selection Criteria:
  • Thorough understanding of issues that Muslims are facing in the United States
  • Formally educated in Fiqh or recognized as a Fiqh scholar by the Fiqh Committee of ISNA
  • Authorized to work in the US (except in exceptional cases)
  • Demonstrated leadership ability

Imam Position

The Raleigh Masjid is seeking an Imam with the following qualifications:
  • A degree in Islamic Studies or related Sharia area from an accredited university
  • Excellent Qur'anic recitation skills and strong memorized command of a significant portion of the Qur'an
  • Strong communication, organizational, interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Adequate knowledge of Fiqh to teach and counsel the community on matters of Fiqh in the four main schools of thought
  • Adequate knowledge of the Seerah of the Prophet (PBUH)
  • Fluent in English - spoken and written
  • A strong understanding of Islamic etiquettes, manners, and appropriate behavior
  • A complete understanding of challenges and hardships Muslim youth face in the US
  • US work authorization
