Al Furqan Event Coordinator
Al-Furqan School is seeking an experienced, take charge professional with strong Islamic character possessing ability to manage administration and logistic functions of special events organized by the Al-Furqan School Committee.

Background
Al-Furqan School is a weekend Islamic School that has been serving the Muslim community in the Triangle area since 1986. The school offers classes for students from KG - 12th Grade. Currently there are over 400 students enrolled in the Al-Furqan School. The school is run solely by volunteers who serve as teachers and administrators to seek Allah's pleasure.
Our goal at Al-Furqan School is to educate Muslim youth about the teachings of Islam so that they can thrive in non-Islamic world and lead lives according to Islamic principles. The administrators and teachers at Al-Furqan School are dedicated to working collaboratively to implement instructional program that adhere to the teachings of the Quran and the Sunnah.
General Responsibilities
The ideal candidate must be available all Sundays and assist with coordination of school events like Eid-ul-Fitr celebration, Eid-ul-Adha celebration, Hajj Program, Parent-Teacher Conferences, Student Registration, 3rd Grade Salah Program, Quran Recitation Program Graduation Ceremony, End of Year Assembly for Elementary, Middle and High School and any other events planned during academic year.
The candidate must be able to anticipate project needs, discern work priorities, create planning documents, and meet deadlines with little supervision, and be willing to work at least 30 hours per month.
The event coordinator should demonstrate attention to detail for special event management, be enthusiastic and professional, and be able to communicate with committee members and parent volunteers.
The event coordinator should demonstrate professionalism and timeliness, possessing positive attitude towards deadline and must perform efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Aggressively gather information on each project to achieve quality event productions.
- Document all events task, plan and action items list.
- Create logistics and layout plan for each event.
- Participate in all AF-Committee Meetings.
- Provide updates of events planning during AF-Committee Meetings.
- Assist with preparing budgets with Finance Manager.
- Keep track of event finances including checks requests, invoicing and reporting along with Finance Manager.
- Create a team of parent volunteers for each event and conduct preparation meeting with volunteers prior to the events.
- Propose new ideas to improve the event planning and implementation process.
- Serve as a liaison with volunteers on event related matters.
- Assist with managing on-site and clean-up for events as necessary.
- Prepare or assist with purchase of materials needed for the event.
- Close out all events as required.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong Islamic Character with excellent communication skills, including writing, proof reading skills, and speaking.
- A strong understanding of Islamic etiquettes, manners and appropriate behavior.
- Ability to manage multiple events and work assignments.
- Excellent interpersonal skills both in person and by email communication, with high professionalism.
- Ability to accomplish projects with little or no supervision.
- Detail oriented and high expectations for quality.
- Proficient using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, mail merges, email and web.
Responsible to: Chair, Vice-Chair and Principal of the Al-Furqan School.
Compensation: Hired candidate will be on probation for the first 60 days and are reviewed semi-annually.
